1. COUNSELLING APPROACH
Quirky Quolls supports people to plan and make changes in their lives in line with their goals, values and preferences. I value helping clients to build upon their strengths to achieve their goals, while providing support where needed.
I offer a blended counselling / coaching service that is:
Person-centred: I provide an empathetic and non-judgemental space for you where I support you to make decisions. Because I incorporate coaching elements into my approach, some elements of the sessions may be more structured and directed than a traditional person-centred counselling approach. Your preferences will always be taken into consideration.
Strengths-based: My approach helps you to identify your strengths and resources that you can draw upon to make changes in your life.
Values-based: We work together to explore what really matters to you so that we can work in line with your values.
Diversity / Neurodiversity-affirming: I have experience working with neurodiverse people and people of diverse genders and sexuality. I have LGBTIQ+ Ally training.
2. SESSIONS
The duration of each counselling session is 50 minutes. This allows an additional 10 minutes for related note-taking, follow-up and administration.
3. PAYMENTS AND CANCELLATIONS
Each session costs $120. Payment will be made prior to the session and may be made by EFT. EFTPOS payment is available at face-to-face sessions.
Late cancellation fees are payable as follows:
Less than 24 hours notice: Full session fee payable.
24 to 48 hours’ notice: 50% of session fee payable.
4. RECORD KEEPING
I will take notes during or after each session to help me keep track of our progress together. These notes will be stored in a private and secure location. You can request to see your personal information and counselling records.
Your counselling records will be kept by Quirky Quolls for a period of seven (7) years from the date of your last contact.
5. PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY
To be able to provide you with effective and safe services, Quirky Quolls will collect some personal information about you. This could be in a variety of formats, including verbal, written and audiovisual.
Quirky Quolls has privacy policy and practices in place that are consistent with the Australian Counselling Association Code of Ethics and Practice and relevant privacy legislation and regulations.
The content of Check-In Sessions is treated as highly confidential. At times, I may need to discuss my work with my clinical supervisor but would not use identifying details.
At times, I may need to share information with other parties or service providers to provide appropriate support for you. I will check with you to ensure you know what information may be involved and who the information may be shared with.
There are a few circumstances in which I may be required to break confidentiality:
If I consider you to be at risk of seriously harming yourself or someone else.
If your counselling records have been requested by a court of law.
If another party or agency has requested your information, and you have agreed and provided your written consent to this.
You can view Quirky Quolls’ full Privacy and Confidentiality Policy by clicking the link in the footer of this Web site.
6. EMAIL / TELEPHONE CONTACT
Email or telephone contact outside of sessions will be limited to practical arrangements only.
For emergencies:
If you are faced with an emergency in between sessions, please contact the appropriate emergency or crisis service.
In a life-threatening situation call 000 immediately.
7. ENDING COUNSELLING
Usually, the end of counselling will be decided by mutual prior agreement. However, you have the right to end your counselling at any time.
If at any time I feel that my counselling services are no longer appropriate for you, I will discuss this with you. I may suggest discontinuation or a referral to a service with a better fit for your needs.
I would appreciate at least 48 hours’ notice if you decide not to continue our counselling sessions.
